THE SALT WELCOME (Folk/DE)

The Salt Welcome sculpts moody chamber folk compositions with delicate vocals that suggest more than they betray. Based in Berlin, Michelangelo Contini (Italy) has conscripted a crack team of international musicians to help complete his vision: Eurico Mathias (Brazil) on cello, Gearóid Ua Laoghaire (Ireland) on e-guitar, and Big Daddy Mugglestone (USA) on drums. The interwoven melodic shards of cello and guitar sway with the economic rhythms of Mugglestone, allowing Contini to evoke Leonard Cohen on his first trip to Brazil.

MAI FAROSH (Indian Sufiana/IND)

Since the Winter of 2015, Madhav has been writing geets and ghazals in his native language – Hindi and Urdu – a beautiful language born in the Delhi of old, as a result of the communication between the natives of Northern India and Mughal soldiers from their army camps. These songs are his homage to dreams and dreamers, those who are content to be lost and have no thought of being found. Keeping soul and raw energy as the common denominators, Madhav uses traditional Indian instruments (harmonium, voice, tanpura, tabla) to create visceral sounds that belong to no time or era, yet are accessible to anyone who is seeking new experience and sensation.
